What is a Traffic Exchange?

A Traffic Exchange is a program that drives potential customers to your website. Traffic Exchanges ensure that real people are viewing your website. You and other people like you who have an online opportunity to promote, post their websites at Traffic Exhanges with the anticipation that someone will be interested in what they are promoting. Traffic from traffic exchanges is earned when you view other websites in the program. You'll typically view each page while a timer counts down,
usually from 10 to 30 seconds, before you can move on to the next page. You can also purchase credits or receive a monthly allocation of credits as a paid member. But, the most economical way to receive credits as a beginner is to earn them by surfing.

To earn credits as quickly as possible, you may want to surf traffic exchanges by opening up multiple tabs in your browser. You'll view a different traffic exchange in each tab. So, immediately after clicking to the next page in one traffic exchange you'll move to the next tab and click to the next page on that exchange. In this way you are not waiting for any timer to count down, but are earning credits on multiple traffic exchanges as quickly as possible.

Because most other members also use tabbed browsing, your page has only a second or two to capture their attention. Your page's headline must immediately interest them and distract them from clicking to the next page. You should use a splash page as a graphic intensive headline to grab attention.

And because most members are clicking almost mechanically to get to the next page, they will need to see your page several times before they decide to do more than glance at your headline. This means you will need lots of credits to successfully promote your URLs. You may want to consider upgrading some of your favorite Traffic Exchanges to paid memberships after you start earning money. This will save you a lot of time and bring more traffic to your page.

Tips for Promoting your Website Offline

Place Free Classifieds in local papers, online papers, and college papers.

Call your Chamber of Commerce and find out about Local Area Job Fairs. Get a booth and set up info about the fabulous business opportunity!

Become a Walking Billboard. Order items with your website printed on them that you can wear or carry. Like a tote bag, a hat, a t-shirt, a water bottle, etc. You can also get an inexpensive outdoor sign made for your yard. Or a window cling for your car.

Stamp your business info to the outside of all outgoing postal mail! Include your business card on the inside. Do this for personal mail, business mail and for paying your bills!
Get Business Themed Banking Checks! Your bank checks pass thru tons of hands that could become potential customers or party hosts! If possible get your email address or website URL printed onto them! I also suggest using pre-printed postal address labels too! (try to get checks that have pictures of some of the products you sell on them)

Draft up a business press release. Submit it to your local newspapers, local magazines, tv stations and radio stations. Offer to be a guest on one of their live or recorded shows.
Do you get a lot of magazines to your home? If so, after reading them, print up some labels on your computer that say "Compliments of __________________" and donate them to local doctors offices, dentist offices, local hospitals, libraries, community centers, senior centers, etc. Make sure your label includes your business name & information.
Business Cards – Slide your business card part way into the slot at credit card slots at gas stations ATM’s, and self checkout registers. When someone asks for your business card give them two.

Flyers, Flyers, Flyers!!! Keep them everywhere. In your car, your bags, your purses, even your kids’ school bags. You never know when you might need them. When posting flyers on bulletin boards make sure to include tear-off tags. Be creative, here are a few ideas.

  • The PUBLIC Library! I go in there often and see all kinds of advertisements for businesses there!

  • Day Care Centers – here you will find plenty of parents that would much rather stay at home with the kids.

  • College Campuses! Dorms & Housing Students are always looking for an extra income so target them with your the Business Opportunity! Drop off fliers and business cards to the College Student Center! They usually have bulletin boards, tables and other things where you can leave your information at for FREE!

  • Temporary Employment Agencies...The Economy is sluggish in a lot of the areas in the USA...ask Temp. Employment Agencies to refer some clients to you who may be interested in a Home Based Business!!! You could offer the staff a discount or free gift for referrals.

  • Doctor’s Offices

  • Local Gym

  • Salons

  • Massage parlours

  • Boutiques

Quick Tip #1

Keep a daily list of all your promoting activities. Use a small spiralnotebook and keep track of what you're doing. Refer to it often to makesure you're not repeating something that you've tried before that didn'twork. Activity Counts but make sure it's activity that will move yourbusiness forward, not just busy work. Whatever you do be consistent. Not hit-or-miss. That's the key to success!

What are your Online Goals?

Have you set your online goals and if not, why not do it now? We all need goals to measure our achievements by and our goals need to be realistic.

You do not want to set your goals so high that you are guaranteed to fail as that will not do you any good.

One of the goals of every parent is getting their child to walk and when teaching them to walk, they make sure there are no sharp objects around and they are always there to catch them when they start to fall. Soon, after some tumbles and lots of attempts their child is off and walking and there is no looking back.

When working online, you need to set specific goals for yourself and be as specific as you can.
You do not want to set a goal of making a million dollars because that is too general. Start off with an easy goal such as I want to make one dollar online within 30 days. Again, keep it something that you can achieve and then layout a plan of action to get that one dollar.
Then continue setting other goals for where you want to be in 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years and 5 years and again be realistic and focused.

Too many people come online without a dime to their name and think they are going to be retired in a year. It is not going to happen and I do not care how many websites you see where the person tells you how they lived in their car or dug ditches or was a poor college kid, etc. and now they are living the life of their dreams.

I will tell you that if you work hard, stay focused, set and work toward your goals that you can make a living online. You may not become a millionaire but how many people become millionaires in the offline world?

Just having the opportunity to work from home and not in a cubicle and not commute and not have to deal with office politics and being in control of your own future is worth a lot. However, before you get to that point, you need to get started, get focused and stay the course. You have to walk before you run online just like you did as a child.

So, take a few minutes and write down your online goals and make sure you do write them down so you can review them and track your progress.
